Week 6 Game of the Week

Week 6 Game of the Week

Williams’ Diamondbacks at Garber’s Grasshoppers

11:30 am Field 4

This week’s Game of the Week matchup will be a cross division match-up between two teams battling for their respective division titles. The Hoppers come in to the weekend hot off of a sweep after dropping two the weekend before. They will look to stay hot against a Dbacks team that has won 5 of their last 6 despite missing the big stick of their captain who has been nursing a sore hammy. In true form for this season, Captain Williams has been MIA and was not made available by the club for comment. However, Garber did have some words about the upcoming matchup.

“We are surprised and honored to be playing in the game of the week again.  It is like ESPN is giving us the Yankees – Red Sox treatment.  We are looking forward to matching up with the Diamondbacks and their semi-retired captain, Andrew Williams.  Everyone always expects Kid to have a top team and I thought he shrewdly cemented that by getting a very high pick in each of the first three rounds of the draft.  Peter Hogan was the steal of the draft until his unfortunate injury – most unfortunate is that he still talks trash, even while he is on the injured list.  Andrew has a balanced club, with a strong pitcher, a good lineup and steady defense.   He is a true five tool player: he produces the podcast, writes the music, loads the graphics, runs the mixer, and wrote the best captain’s corner this season – flip back to DBacks Rattle On, April 2.  Swing by field 4 at 11:30 to see the Game of the Week!”

This one is sure to be a barn burner and will surely beg to questions will Williams be present or not.

Railriders Hang On For Victory in GOW
Apr 10, 2019, 9:01 am

In a see saw matchup that saw multipe lead changes and some great defensive plays, the Railriders held off a late Astros rally to claim the victory.  Big homer by Eric Soeth and clutch hitting for the Riders was the key.  The Astros entered the bottom of the final inning down 4 and scored 3 runs to bring the winning run to the plate with one out.  Michael Barth recorded an out and then snagged a shot up the middle by Greg Oetzmann that would have tied the game.  Very entertaining contest.  Final score Railriders 14 Astros 13.

Mariners take Game of the Week
Apr 2, 2019, 7:43 am

Congratulations to John Miller and his Mariners squad for an 18-12 victory in the game of the week and ending the win streak for the Hoppers.  Fueled by a 7 run 4th inning, they held on despite a last inning 6 run rally by Garber's squad to claim the win.  The M's would see their win streak ended in the next game at the hands of the Braves and the Grasshoppers dropped two on the day.  See you next week!
