Fall Season 2012 Approaching!

The fall season of TSSL will kick off on August 26. There will be more teams competing in the fall league than ever before so it should be exciting.  The new schedule will be released as soon as the Spring season concludes.

 


Rangers/Scrappers advance; Blue Claws and Rivercats stay alive.

In Division 1, the Rangers rallied from a deficit including 12-7 entering the bottom of the 7th and emerged into the winners bracket with a 13-12 come from behind win over the Threshers. The mini playoff advancing Rivercats eliminated the top seeded Red Sox 11-3 at the same time. The Rivercats then eliminated the Threshers 9-4. The Rangers need just 1 win while the Rivercats will need to sweep 2 from the Rangers next Sunday.
In Division 2, the Scrappers advanced to the winners bracket defeating the top seed Blue Claws 12-7. The Bees eliminated the Royals 9-8. Then the Blue Claws eliminated the Bees by rallying for an 8-6 victory. The Scrappers need 1 victory to advance to the title series while the Blue Claws will need to sweep 2 next Sunday!

 


POW Awards for Playoff Week 1

Tommy Appligian (Division 2) & Mitch Zimmerman (Division 1) were named as Player of the week for their divisions.

Tommy kept the Blue Claw deficit at 5-3 gunning down a 6th run to end the top of the 6th. Then won the game with a 2 out 2 run HR in the bottom of the 6th to lead the Blue Claws to a 6-5 win.

Mitch Zimmerman was 7-8, including 3-3 in game 1 (5-3 defeat) and played strong LCF/ SS in 2 games keeping the Rivercats alive entering week 2 of the playoffs.

In a great 1st day of the Playoffs, both divisions saw their 2 seeds be the 1st teams eliminated in this year's playoffs. Division 1 saw the 4th seeded Threshers nip the Rivercats 5-3 and defeat the top seeded Red Sox 6-5. The rangers defeated the 2 seed Indians 11-7. Then The 5th seeded Rivercats eliminated the Indians 24-12. Division 2 had the 4th seeded Bees defeat the Royals 16-13 and then lose a nailbiter to the top seeded Blue Claws 6-5. The 2 seeded Giants lost to the 3 seed Scrappers 17-7. Finally the 5th seeded Royals eliminated the Giants 7-4.

The Player of the Week awards for the Mini Playoffs were:

Division 1- Andrew Williams- Casper's Rivercats

Division 2- Michael Barth- Lachman's Royals

Both led their respective teams to 2 big wins and a berth in the playoffs next weekend.

 


Royals/Rivercats Advance; Division 1 wins All Star Game.

The 6th seeded Rivercats and Royals emerged from the Mini playoffs to advance to the double elimination tournament.

In Division 1, the short handed Rivercats nipped the Tigers 8-5. The 8th seeded Muckdogs rallied for a 14-9 win over the 5th seeded Owls. Then the Rivercats rallied and hung on for a 9-7 win after spotting the Muckdogs 5 in the 1st to advance to the playoffs.

In division 2, the 8th seeded Yankees (like the Muckdogs) advanced by eliminating the 5th seeded Pirates 11-2. The Royals took out the Mets, and then rallied to overcome a Yankee lead and advance to the playoffs 11-6. Congratulations to these 2 teams for winning 2 tough games and rallying in the mini title games.

Division 1 defeated division 2 19-14 in an exciting All Star game featuring 2 JJ Eusay HRs!
