Riverdogs win the Fall Title !

It was a Fall classic playoff sequence over 2 weekends. In the title day games, the Thunder gave the Riverdogs their 1st defeat 20-14. Meanwhile, the Reds eliminated the Rockies 5-2. The Reds then rallied for an exhilirating 16-15 walk off win to advance to the winner take all game with the Riverdogs. It was a back and forth affair with the Riverdogs quickly overcoming a 1 run deficit in the bottom of the 6th with 5 runs and won the title 17-13 on the 18th of November! Congratulations to the Riverdogs and all 8 teams on a wonderful Fall season.


Riverdogs Sweep the 1, 2, and 3 seeds for a spot in the chapmionship game!

An amazing full day of double elimination playoff softball took place Sunday, Nov. 4th. Almost all the games were competitive with many going extra innings. The results:

Game 1: 8 seed Riverdogs 21-14 over 1 seed Rockies. The 2, 3, and 4 seeded Reds, Thunder, and Express advanced in the winners bracket, in close games over the Mudcats, Bats and Volcanos respectively.

Game 2: The 8 seeded Riverdogs edged the 2 seeded Reds 14-13 in 2 extra innings. The Thunder defeated the Express by 1 run in the other winner bracket game. In the elimination side, the 1 seeded Rockies won over the Mudcats in extras and the Bats eliminated the Volcanos.

Game 3: The winner's bracket had the 8 seed Riverdogs complete the trifecta, defeating the 3 seed Thunder 13-7. This assured the Riverdogs of playing for the title on the 18th. The 1 and 2 seeds, Rockies and reds, each eliminated (and survived) their opponents the  Bats and Express.

The 18th:  Thunder (2-1) @ Riverdogs (3-0) and Reds (2-1) @ Rockies (2-1) at 8 AM !

Final Regular Season ROW/POW Selections

The POW award for the final week of the season goes to Mark Winnie or Eusay's Volcanoes.  Mark was near perfect going 7 for 8, driving in 2, scoring twice and making a couple great catches in the outfield.

The ROW goes to James Lee.  James was 4/8 and scored 5 runs while fighting through an injury.

The Playoffs will start next Sunday at 8 AM!!!  The matchups are as follows:

#8 Garber's Riverdogs @ #1 Reed's Rockies Field 1
#7 Barth's Mudcats @ #2 Zane's Reds  Field 3
#6 Buhrow's Bats @ #3 Farin's Thunder  Field 4
#5 Eusay's Volcanoes @ #4 Banta's Express  Field 5

All teams will play triple headers unless you lose your first two games.  Remember the time change this weekend also!!!!  Good luck to all teams!!

This week's Player of the Week award goes to a father/son tandem

Jeff Lewin:          6 for 8, 3 RBI’s, 5 Runs Scored, 2 Doubles, Triple
 
The Rookie of the Week was Jeff Farendorf.  Jeff went 4-6 with great d in right and great sportsmanship.

Daniel Roth- 6 for 8, 7 runs scored 4 rbi's- hit for the cycle in Game 2. Two fence clearing homers on the day. Made one of the greatest diving catches ever in Left Center! Randy Ransom - 3 fence homers, a double, a couple of walks, after getting out meekly in first at bat each game (just settin' 'em up, I figure), 4 runs, 6 RBI
Kyle Casper:  perfect 5 for 5, 3B, 2B,  BB, SF, 5 RBI
Greg Hurst 5-7...2 triples...5 rbi...great d
Jason Murray going 3 - 6 and outstanding defense all day playing all over the field

The player of the week for last week was Nick Milton. He went 5 for 7 with a BB, 4 singles, HR, 3 RBI's and an ESPN worthy catch in RCF. 

 

The weeks best rookie was Jeff Radnof from Banta's Express. He went 6 for 8 with 3 RBI’s, 2 Runs Scored, and 1 BB.
