Week 3 Game of the Week

Silverman’s Rangers at Roth’s Indians

9:10 am Field 3

This week’s Game of the Week matchup will pit 3-time spring championship captain Larry Silverman and his Rangers against young Matt Roth and his Indian squad in an intra-divisional matchup. The Rangers are off to a red hot 4-0 start, winning all 4 games by a combined 7 runs and locked in a first place tie. However, it looks as if they will be without their top draft pick for a stretch so the veteran captain will have to strike gold on the sub list. In the opposing dugout, Captain Roth has seen his team stumble out to a .500 record at 2-2. Rising star Tim Jamieson has carried the squad early as top pick Danny Banaszek works to find his stroke. This will be an intriguing matchup and both captains are excited for the opportunity ahead. Asked about his squad and the upcoming matchup, Roth said:

Honored to be chosen in this week's game of the week we certainly have our work cut out for us against the Legend Larry Silverman and the rest of the Rangers.

Coming off a nice 18-11 win last week, we are looking to keep the momentum going with one of the league’s best defenses and an offense that is just starting to run on all cylinders lead by MVP candidates Danny Banaszek and Tim Jamieson and Stud hurler Michael Thiele there isn't a team in the league that the Indians can't match up with.

I'm excited to have such a huge game test us early and often. Getting a win against the Rangers would definitely move us up the power rankings, but we are eager to show the league what we can bring to the table.

In the words of Ben "The Thing" Grimm

It's clobberin time!”

Similar to some other teams that the “experts” projected to be bringing up the rear in their division, the Rangers have set out to prove them wrong. As per the norm with Silverman, he had quite a bit to say about his squad and the approaching matchup.

“We are truly honored to be participating in the GOW this Sunday.  We are off to a red hot start having swept the prior two weeks but with an incredibly small run differential.  Having won two games in walk off fashion and 3rd in extra innings, we are hardly over confident going into this match up.  Our team is solid from top to bottom offensively excluding the skipper who is strong on craft and light on talent. We have gotten a lot of pop from Kyle Casper and the Weddy Man, Stephen Wedderburn.  There have been contributions from all other guys if not in spectacular form-with trades negotiated, this team has no real lower half weakness which is the strength of the team.  Defensively we are solid if not spectacular with positional flexibility.  The pitching goes two deep with Casper and Epstein.  We were getting some strong play from newbie Enrique Santos who will not play in this tilt as he is off to work out of town for the next three weeks minimally.  In his stead is Brandon Yamauchi who should step in nicely.  Of course, the coaching is superb and the banter sublime!!!  We will have to score and often against a strong Indian's squad.  Looks like they have a number of sluggers especially Banaszek and Jamieson-they can carry their team with plenty of pop.  The Shillers are a fast brother duo who present a significant offensive threat while patrolling the outfield with aplomb. Thiele looks like the real deal at P and Matt has really learned the craft of coaching.  We will battle hard as we have all year and this should probably be a close one as usual in our magical season.”

This is sure to be a fun one on Field 3. Best of luck to both teams and enjoy the day.
