Can London's Scrappers Stay Perfect In This Weeks GOW???
Apr 5, 2014, 6:04 pm

After 3 weeks of play with a record of 6-0 the SCRAPPER'S will be entertaining the fans on Field 1 for the Game of the Week this Sunday.  The team is lead well by Brad London, but really it doesn't need much leading at all.  The team is full of veteran softball players who come out every Sunday morning looking to have fun, enjoy the brotherhood and play their best.  With all of those things happening, the SCRAPPER'S have had amazing results.  The plan forward is not to change.  We plan on continuing our smart defensive plays and our hitting that is coming from each player in the line-up.  Not one player is standing out, ok maybe that guy Brian Ortega, but really the key for the team has been to be a team.  We act like a team and play like a team.  We will continue to do the same and hopefully will continue to have the same results.  GO SCRAPPER'S!!    Brad London - London's Scrappers

My guys are looking forward to the limelight and want to put their best effort out there-they want to leave it all on the field. Take it one pitch at a time...give it 110%. Be there for their teammates. It's a team sport so we all know there is no I in team. Keep it in check...facing a dynamo team with no losses.  We will have to play our best ball and put it all on the line. We are really psyched and amped up. It's going to be a brawl. Team is in great hands with JJ at the helm as Coach Sil will be in Augusta.....Let's tee it up and get it on!!!!     Larry Silverman - Silverman's Rangers

Muckdogs Stretch Winning Streak to Six!

The Muckdogs stretched their record to 6-0, beating the Yankees in a squeaker 10-9, and then holding off the Knights 19-13. The strength of the Muckdogs continues to be solid hitting up and down the line-up. This week every player reached base at least twice and had at least one run or RBI.

The first game was a tight battle throughout the game. After 5 innings, the game was tied. The Yanks scored 2 in the top of the 6th, and then Muckdogs added three in the bottom of the 6th, with consecutive singles by Mike Sheppard, Gary Sanders, Ryan Sheppard, and Captain Goldstein. Pitcher Rick Beardsley was able to mow down the Yanks in the last inning to preserve the victory.

In the second game, the Muckdogs got off to a quick start, scoring 9 in the top of the first. The Knights battled back capped by Justin Reed’s grand slam to pull within 4 at 17-13, but the Muckdogs managed to hold on for a 19-13 victory.

Muckdogs' Player of the Week was Gary Sanders. Gary went 6-7 with a 3B, 6 runs scored and an RBI, to increase his batting average for the season to 762. Gary also played solid defense at 1B.

Muckdogs' Rookie of the Week was Ryan Sheppard who went 5-7 with his second inside the park HR of the season, 4 runs and 7 RBIs. Solid defense at 2B.

Other stars for the week included: Matt Ruckel – 5-7, HR, 2B, 4 runs, 3 RBIs; Thomas Kulcak – 4-7, 3B, 3 2Bs, 2 runs, 5 RBIs, great defense in LCF; Rick Beardsley 3-6, 3 2Bs, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Ira Utay, got on base 4 times, played great at 3B, his 4th position he’s played in just 6 games.
