A Letter From The Commissioner
Apr 29, 2015, 5:46 pm

It is no mystery that this year has been somewhat of an anomaly when it comes to our schedule. The league has faced adversity with the weather and scheduling complications with Plano Parks and Recreation(which veterans of the league have witnessed with increasing frequency the past several years).  I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their patience and understanding in this difficult time. Also rest assured I am doing everything I can to ensure that a full season of games will be  played this year. Numerous ideas have been considered over the past many weeks as there have been a bevy of meetings with commissioner’s delegates, captains and the city of Plano to address our concerns. Plano has been made aware of (and understands)  our concerns as a league and I am very confident that we will come to a resolution for everyone involved. To ensure that we continue to play at Heritage Yards, here are some of the potential considerations:

When using all 9 fields, it is likely that  games will begin at 8 a.m.

During the busy months of March and April (for the city of Plano with baseball tournaments) we will be consolidated to the 5 inner fields much like we have been playing for most of this season already.

Please keep in mind that these are tentative ideas that have not been approved by upper management of the city of Plano, but have been embraced by the Parks and Recreation leaders in our discussions to date. I want to keep everyone informed with the progress of the league and feel it is important to have transparency. I look forward to a very competitive and successful year of softball and there are many events which will be formally scheduled once planning can move forward. In the mean time, please continue to enjoy our vibrant league, and the exciting competitive season that we have underway.

Thank you.

Ranger Rap Up

The Gers got out the brooms to sweep by the Bats and Cubs on Sunday.  In the opener, Unell's Bats came out fast with a 1st inning 3 spot. The defense then clamped down on the Bats giving up only a single tally in the 5th. The Gers plated 2 in the first, 1 in the second and 3 in the 4th in a rather defensive nail biter.  When the smoke cleared, the Gers had a well earned 6-4 victory flashing great D with just a sprinkle of offense to close the deal.

Night cap saw a slow starting Ger squad against a game Cubby team. Game was tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the 3rd when the Man of Steele hit a 2 run clout well out of the park which seemed to loosen the offensive strain.  A 3 run triple by Justin "Hondo" Howard followed a bit later in the inning as the Gers scored 5 in the inning. In the 4th, the Gers broke it open with 9 more including an "A" Macek 2 run inside the parker ding dong - Jerry Rogers had 2 hits from the 11 hole and the Rangers rolled to their 5th victory with a 16-4 W.  Special mention to our Cy Young candidate, W Casper " not friendly to the batters" who pitched brilliantly on the way to the victories.

POW-Troy "Man of" Steele   4/6 HR SAC 3 Runs and 5 RBI's

ROW-Brian Macek-3/2 HR 3B 2 BB's SAC and 4 RBI's

Rob Shiller-5/6 BB 2B 3 Runs and 2 RBI's and brilliant D

Mark Phares-4/7 2 2B's 4 runs and 3 Ribbies
